What is the electromagnetic valve for the carbon steel gas tank of a car?

The car does not have a "carbon steel gas tank electromagnetic valve". What you are referring to should be the "carbon tank electromagnetic valve" (belonging to the fuel evaporation control system). It is an electromagnetic switch valve that controls the collection and recycling of fuel vapors from the fuel tank for combustion. The term "carbon steel" is incorrect; the valve body is mostly made of plastic or aluminum and has nothing to do with the "steel cylinders/containers" used for storing liquefied gas.

Core definition and function:
Essentially, it is the core actuating component of the fuel evaporation emission control system, consisting of an electromagnetic coil, a armature, and a valve body. It is in the "normally closed" state by default.

Function:
When the engine is off, it closes the pipeline to allow the carbon tank to adsorb the oil vapor from the fuel tank; when the engine is running, it is controlled by the ECU's pulse to open intermittently, drawing the adsorbed vapor into the intake manifold for combustion, achieving "reduction of emissions + fuel saving + balancing the fuel tank pressure".

Correcting misunderstandings: "Carbon tank" refers to the adsorption container filled with activated carbon, while "electromagnetic valve" is the valve that controls the on-off. They are different and "carbon steel gas tank" is not a component of the car's fuel system (the car's fuel tank is made of metal or plastic, not a high-pressure carbon steel gas tank).

Working principle and control logic:
In the off state: The valve is closed, and the volatile fuel vapors from the fuel tank enter the carbon tank and are adsorbed by the activated carbon to prevent direct emission into the atmosphere.

When starting: The ECU drives the coil to engage the armature at a specific duty cycle frequency, intermittently opening the valve.

Recycling and combustion: Using the negative pressure in the intake manifold, the carbon tank's vapor is mixed with fresh air and introduced into the cylinder for combustion, avoiding waste and pollution.

Common faults and identification:
Typical symptoms: unstable idle, abnormal increase in fuel consumption, difficulty in cold start, heavy gasoline smell in the vehicle, and engine fault light on.

Fault types: stuck always open (mixture too rich), stuck always closed (carbon tank saturation failure), coil burnout or seal leakage.

Simple judgment: A regular "beating" sound during operation is normal; continuous abnormal noise, no action or failure of the air blowing test to pass/always pass may indicate damage. Core function
Environmental protection and emission reduction: When the engine is shut off, it blocks the direct emission of oil and gas into the atmosphere. The oil and gas are adsorbed and stored by the carbon canister. When the engine starts, it releases the oil and gas into the cylinder for combustion, significantly reducing the emission of hydrocarbons.
Improvement of fuel economy: The volatile fuel that was previously wasted is reused as a secondary fuel source, reducing ineffective losses.
Balancing of fuel tank pressure: The ventilation volume is adjusted by pulsating opening and closing to prevent the fuel tank from being sucked by negative pressure or deformed due to excessive positive pressure, which could cause the fuel pump to jump or deform and even leak.
Stabilizing the air-fuel ratio: It is only activated when the engine reaches a specific condition (such as warm-up, medium-high speed), avoiding the over-rich mixture during cold start or idle, which can cause shaking, stalling, and fuel cut-off.
Brief description of working principle
Off-engine state: The valve is always closed, and the oil and gas in the fuel tank flow into the carbon canister and are adsorbed by the activated carbon. The system is sealed.
Starting operation: The ECU controls the valve to open at a high-frequency pulse (duty cycle) based on signals such as water temperature, speed, and load.
Oil vapor recovery: Using the vacuum of the intake manifold, the adsorbed oil and gas are extracted and mixed with air to enter the cylinder for combustion.
Common fault impacts
Always open: The mixture is too rich, causing unstable idle, difficult start, increased fuel consumption, and heavy gasoline smell inside the vehicle.
Always closed: The carbon canister becomes saturated and fails, resulting in abnormal fuel tank pressure (fuel pump jumping, opening the cap to spray gas), direct waste of oil and gas, and possible environmental pollution.
