Crane truck - What is the light switch?
The "light switch" on an aerial crane usually refers to the main switch that controls the vehicle's driving lights and signal lights. It is mainly used to turn on and off the width indicator lights, near lights, far lights, fog lights, etc., and its logic is basically the same as that of ordinary trucks. There are two main types of positions:
Paddle type: On the combined switch located on the left side of the steering wheel, the lights can be controlled by rotating the knob at the top of the paddle or by moving the paddle.
Knob type: On the left side of the dashboard or the central control panel, the lights can be turned on by rotating to the corresponding position.
The specific operation is roughly as follows: Rotate the first gear to turn on the width indicator light (small light), and the second gear to turn on the near light; Push the paddle towards the front of the vehicle to keep the far light on, and pull it towards the driver to flash the light; Rotate the fog light gear or press the independent button to turn on the front and rear fog lights.
The specific positions and gears of different brands and models may vary. The safest way is to check the user manual that comes with the vehicle or test each gear while safely parking to remember the functions corresponding to each icon.
How to troubleshoot if the lights don't light up when the switch is turned on
If the lights don't light up after turning on the switch, you can check in this order:
Check if all the lights are not working: If all the lights are not working and the starter doesn't turn, it is usually a problem with the battery; If the starter can turn normally, the fault is mostly in the main fuse or the main lighting power supply.
Only some lights are not working: Focus on checking the bulb, fuse, lamp holder, and corresponding wiring of that light. Use a test light or short-circuiting method to check each section to find the break point.
Common causes include broken filament, loose bulb, broken or loose wiring, corroded or oxidized connectors, broken fuse, or poor grounding.
The light switch on an aerial crane is mainly used to control the lighting and warning lights for the vehicle and the working area, ensuring the safety of driving and lifting operations. The layout and functions of the light switches on different models of vehicles may vary, but the overall logic is similar to that of ordinary trucks and construction machinery.
Main light functions
Width indicator light (small light): Used in the evening, rainy days, or in tunnels when there is insufficient light, to indicate the width and outline of the vehicle and alert other vehicles of your presence.
Near light: Provides forward lighting at night or in low-light conditions, used on urban roads or well-lit sections.
Far light: When the near light is on, press the paddle down to turn on the far light, providing longer-distance lighting, suitable for dark sections without oncoming vehicles.
Fog light: Used in low visibility weather (such as foggy days), to improve vehicle visibility. In normal weather, turning on the fog light will cause glare to other vehicles, so it should not be used.
Turn signal and double hazard flash light: The turn signal indicates the direction of the turn, and the double hazard flash light (dangerous alarm flashing light) is used for temporary parking, faults, or emergencies. Press the red triangle button on the central control panel to turn it on.
Special lights for cranes
Operator's room main light, arm head light, counterweight outline light: These are the special lights for cranes, used to illuminate the working area, indicate the position of the boom and the outline of the counterweight, and are usually controlled by independent buttons in the operation room.
Instrument panel warning lights: The green, yellow, and red lights on the instrument panel are used to indicate the equipment status and fault warnings. Before operating, you should familiarize yourself with their meanings.
The specific positions and operation methods of the light switch vary by brand and model. For example, models such as XCMG have dedicated buttons in the operation room. It is recommended to follow the user manual that comes with the vehicle for actual operation.
