What is an automotive pump?

Fuel pump (fuel pump)

Oil pump

Automobile pumps are the key components that maintain the operation of various systems in the vehicle. Functions of engine-related pumps
Water pump: As the power source of the cooling system, it drives the coolant to circulate between the engine waterways and the radiator, removing heat and precisely maintaining the normal operating temperature of the engine.
Typical symptoms:
Coolant leakage (green/red marks near the ventilation holes)
Abnormal increase in water temperature, especially in hot weather or when driving at high speed
There is a "buzzing" or "sizzling" noise when the engine is running
Treatment suggestions:
Replace the new water pump immediately, as it cannot be repaired. The water pump is of a centrifugal structure, and if the internal water seal, bearings, and impeller are damaged, the repair effect is poor and the risk is high.
When replacing, choose original factory or high-quality aftermarket parts that match the original vehicle model to ensure compatibility of belt wheel size and impeller design.
Regularly check the coolant level and pipeline leakage, and replace the coolant every 2-4 years or as per the manual requirements to prevent corrosion of the water pump.
Problems with the automotive fuel pump (fuel pump)
The fuel pump is responsible for transporting fuel from the fuel tank to the engine. A malfunction will result in insufficient fuel supply.
Typical symptoms:
Difficulty starting or inability to start (no "buzzing" sound from the fuel tank when starting)
Insufficient power during driving, sudden engine shutdown
Engine abnormal noise (such as "chuffing" or "sizzling" sounds)
Handling suggestions:
Replace the new fuel pump first, especially when the pump core is worn or the motor is faulty; minor blockage can be attempted to clean the filter, but the recurrence rate is high.
Before replacement, disconnect the negative battery terminal and have it operated by a professional technician to avoid dangerous fuel leakage.
Keep the fuel tank oil level no less than 1/4 of the capacity to avoid overheating of the fuel pump; replace the fuel filter regularly.
Problems with the vacuum pump
Commonly seen in diesel vehicles or models with vacuum-assisted braking systems, it provides a vacuum source for braking.
Typical symptoms:
Brakes become hard, pedal travel lengthens
Abnormal noise from the vacuum pump or complete failure
Handling suggestions:
Check the belt tension, internal seals, and valve plates;
If the internal wear is severe, it is recommended to replace the entire unit.
Problems with the air conditioning compressor (air conditioning pump)
Although not a traditional "pump", it is often mistakenly referred to as such. It is responsible for the refrigerant circulation.
Typical symptoms:
Air conditioning does not cool, compressor does not start
Abnormal noise, refrigerant leakage
Handling suggestions:
Do not attempt to disassemble and repair yourself; it is recommended to have it handled by a professional repair shop using refrigerant recovery equipment;
May require replacement of the compressor, electromagnetic clutch, or replenishment of refrigerating oil.
General handling principles
Stop immediately for inspection: If there is a serious malfunction of the water pump or fuel pump, stop immediately to avoid engine damage or breakdown.
Prioritize professional repair: The above operations involve key systems such as fuel, cooling, and braking; it is strongly recommended to handle it at a reputable repair shop.
