The turn signal lights of a car are indicator lights that flash signals to warn pedestrians or other vehicles around when the vehicle is turning or changing lanes, indicating the direction of travel. They are usually installed at the front, rear and sides of the vehicle body. According to the light source material, turn signals can be classified into gas turn signals and LED turn signals. The former has mature technology and low cost, but it poses a risk of mercury pollution. The latter is pollution-free, has a long lifespan, but its popularity is limited by cost. Its flashing function is controlled by a scintillator, and the main types include wire resistance type, capacitive type and electronic type. Among them, the electronic type achieves precise stroboscopic effect through relays or integrated circuits.
The manual indication device for automotive turn signals was first invented by Florence Lawrence in 1914. In 1936, Buick was the first to adopt the modern electronic turn signal system. With technological advancements, leds have gradually replaced traditional gas light sources, and the base models have formed standardized specifications such as P21W and PY21W based on differences in power and size [1]. The internationally recognized yellow light has become the mainstream color standard due to its strong penetrating power. Chinese regulations mandate that all imported vehicle models uniformly use yellow turn signals. Modern turn signal systems enhance safety and convenience through automatic return mechanisms, beeping alerts, and fault diagnosis functions (such as abnormal flashing frequencies indicating bulb damage).
The lamp tube adopts xenon lamp tube, with a single-chip microcomputer control circuit, and rotates left and right for continuous stroboscopic operation.
The use of flashers: According to their different structures, they can be classified into three types: resistive wire type, capacitive type and electronic type. Among them, the wire resistance type can be further divided into the hot wire type (electric heating type) and the fin type (bouncing type), while the electronic type can be further classified into the hybrid type (relay with contact and electronic components) and the all-electronic type (without relay). For instance, the spring-type flash device utilizes the principle of the thermal effect of current. It uses thermal expansion and contraction as the driving force to make the spring plate undergo sudden changes in action, thereby connecting and disconnecting the contacts and achieving the flashing of the light.
