Classification
1. Full floating axle shaft
The half shaft that only bears torque and its two ends do not bear any force and bending moment is called full floating half shaft. The semi floating axle shaft is directly supported on the bearing located in the inner hole at the outer end of the axle housing with a journal close to the outer end, and the end of the axle shaft is fixedly connected with the wheel hub with a journal and key with conical surface, or directly connected with the wheel disc and brake hub with a flange. Therefore, in addition to transmitting torque, it also bears the bending moment caused by the vertical force, driving force and lateral force transmitted by the wheel. Semi floating axle shaft is used in passenger cars and some of the same vehicles because of its simple structure, low quality and low cost.
