What is the car plastic cover?
"Car plastic covers" are not a standard part name. They are more like a general term for various plastic covering components in the car. It depends on their specific location. Usually, their functions involve protection, noise reduction, dust prevention, and aesthetics.
Common types of "plastic covers"
Engine decorative cover/plate: The plastic shell covering the engine. It is mainly for aesthetics and to reduce engine noise. It usually contains sound insulation cotton and can also block dust. The common materials are ABS or PP engineering plastics.
Center console decorative panel: The plastic shell behind the central display screen. It is responsible for structural support, hiding wiring and air conditioning pipes, and also has the functions of electromagnetic shielding and collision buffering. Materials and maintenance
Common materials: Plastic covers on cars mostly use PP (polypropylene), ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer) and other engineering plastics. They are characterized by lightweight, good strength, corrosion resistance, and can reduce the weight and fuel consumption of the entire vehicle.
Daily precautions: When cleaning, use a dedicated interior cleaner or neutral cleaner with a soft cloth. Do not wipe with alcohol or strong solvents, as it will damage the surface protective layer. Do not directly use a high-pressure water gun to rinse the covers in the engine compartment to avoid water entering the electrical components.
If you find that the plastic cover plate makes abnormal sounds, it is likely that the fastener is loose. You can check it. If there is oil leakage on the valve cover of the engine, it is recommended to go to a 4S store or repair shop to check the sealing gasket. Do not try to forcefully remove it yourself.

Wiper cover plate (collecting rain plate)
Located below the front windshield, its main functions are:
Rainwater diversion: It guides the rain flowing off the glass to the side drainage channels to prevent water from seeping into the engine compartment or the air conditioning intake.
Protecting the wiper mechanism: It blocks fallen leaves and sand from entering, protecting the wiper motor and connecting rod, and prolonging their lifespan.
Chassis plastic guard plate
It covers the underside of the chassis and serves the following functions:
Anti-scuffing and anti-buckling: It prevents the chassis from being damaged by road stones or bumps when they impact or shake.
Dust and rust prevention: It reduces the entry of mud, water into the chassis, avoiding rust and circuit shorting of components.
Noise reduction: It has a certain inhibitory effect on chassis noise.
Note: It is not recommended to remove the engine hood at will. It has practical functions such as sound insulation, heat insulation and dust prevention. Removing it might even increase noise and cause dust to enter the cabin.
