Line or sensor problems: Loose plugs, oxidized terminals, broken lines, or abnormal temperature sensor data, resulting in the computer not receiving signals.
Mechanical jamming: Leaf deformation, getting stuck in sand, stones, or foreign objects, the grille cannot rotate, more likely to trigger at high speeds or in rainy weather.
Computer system mismatch: When submerged, the water pressure pushes the grille, causing a conflict with the computer control logic and triggering a fault. Generally, the fault code can be cleared.
Handling suggestions
First, read the fault code: Use the diagnostic computer to read the fault code and freeze frame data to determine which part of the process the fault occurred in. Don't rush to replace the part.
Distinguish between the motor and the assembly: The motor of the active grille is very common to fail. In many cases, replacing only the motor can solve the problem. There is no need to replace the entire grille assembly, which can save a lot of money.
Check the wiring and plugs: Unplug the motor plug and test the voltage of the power supply, grounding, and communication lines to see if they are normal. If the wiring is fine, it is basically the motor itself that is broken.
Clean up stuck foreign objects: If only the blade is stuck with sand or debris, remove it and clean it, and check if the movement is smooth.
